HalifaxBuild was founded in 2015 by Tim Jones – a finance guy with a passion for building, managing projects and swinging a hammer.

Tim has over 20 years financial and project related experience across small business, the financial sector, corporate industry, and government. 

Back in 2015, Tim took a 12-month sabbatical from his day job as a senior leader in a fast-paced consultancy business to don a tool-belt and complete a high-end renovation of his family home. He did so under the guidance of a qualified registered builder. 

During this time, Tim saw an emerging opportunity to support builders and clients alike manage their projects more effectively and more efficiently. His view was that, builders (generally) just wanted to get on and do what they did best – build, and not get bogged down administering their projects. Equally, he saw that clients – often busy and time-poor – expected high levels of communication and financial management to provide them with the confidence that their project would be delivered on time and to budget, and without stress.

With a blend of his corporate experience and building knowledge, Tim and HalifaxBuild is ideally placed to partner with you to deliver successful projects: on-track, on-time and on-target.

Since 2015, Tim has had experience in managing large residential renovations, office fit-outs and a range of smaller scale projects. He is also been known to get on the tools from time to time (for non-restricted building work).

Over the years, Tim has built a network of strong relationships across the building sector and amongst the trades.

Tim is also an accredited NZ Green Building Council Homestar Practitioner.
