Kitchen Renovation
Tim project managed our kitchen renovation project which also included some major refurbishing work to our wooden floors right throughout the house. Tim quite simply took all the hassle out of the project for us.
He managed contractors and the various timings of getting people on site, kept an accurate daily log of project costs that were easy to follow against estimates. If there were any variations we talked these through prior to committing so we were always clear on what we were up for cost wise. There were no surprises and everything ran smoothly on time and on budget. Tim is a very easy guy to deal with, always kept us up to date, was across the detail and just gives you confidence that the project is under control… which it was. His model of total transparency on costs is really great and the online system he uses to keep you informed is really easy to use.
The money we spent with Tim actually saved us cost in the long run and certainly took the stress out of completing a complex project.

Bathroom and shed repair
Tim from HalifaxBuild has done two jobs for me recently.
One was a bathroom repair which Tim managed from start to finish. He reviewed what needed to be done and then organised the sub-contractors and carried out the building work.
It was a rental property and Tim was great providing me with options and budgets on how much we could do and guided me to the right decision. There were a few problems with the floor once things were pulled up but Tim managed all of this and it made it so much less stressful for me. He did an amazing job and the outcome was fantastic and under budget!
Tim is great to communicate with. He answered my calls quickly and was always happy to answer any questions. He has really good relationships with the sub-contractors which made the process go very smoothly and people were able to come at short notice.
The second job was a shed repair and again Tim made suggestions about what would be best to do and gave really clear estimations in budget.
I would highly recommend Tim and HalifaxBuild. The quality of work done was outstanding and the management side was done with ease. Having someone to identify the issues in advance and manage them is amazing.

Renovation for house sale
Tim Jones and HalifaxBuild were a pleasure to work with, very professional and we are extremely happy with the end result. We were recommended HalifaxBuild by the local team at Ray White as we were preparing to put our house on the market. Tim was very easy to work with and became good friends of the family.

new Deck and french doors
In October 2019 we purchased our home in Mt Albert and had grand plans for a beautiful new deck. We were lucky enough to have Tim from HalifaxBuild recommended to us by our property agent.
Right from our first meeting with Tim I knew HalifaxBuild would be a good choice. I had several other companies quote for the job but in the end Tim’s attitude, expertise and ease of communication won us over.
We had never built a deck before so we were definitely relying on Tim to listen to what we were looking for and then come up with recommendations around size, deck material and overall look and feel. Throughout the process Tim’s communication was fantastic, from talking through the pricing, understanding the different components of the build, to updating us with progress reports. We were absolutely stoked with the finished product and ending up also using HalifaxBuild to replace a window with a set of French Doors to complement the new deck.
Throughout the deck build and installation of doors Tim managed all of the relationships with external suppliers, he was the go between in terms of keeping us updated and making the sure the projects were running on schedule. This was key for us as we simply did not have the time or expertise to be managing this ourselves.
Overall working with HalifaxBuild was a fantastic experience from start to finish, we would definitely recommend using them. We have had so many complements on both the deck and the French Doors and we absolutely love the finished look. HalifaxBuild will certainly be first on the list to call if we have any further needs in this area!

Traditional Villa, front fencing
We used HalifaxBuild to help renovate the front of our property in Sandringham. When we purchased it renovations had been completed on the interior but we were very keen to tidy up the front of our property to give it an authentic look and feel in line with a traditional villa.
Initially, Tim worked with us around our vision and provided sketches of potential options and quotes on the cost. We ended up choosing a picket fence which also included some retaining behind the fence so we could level up our lawn where some old trees had been removed.
It was not an easy task to say the least, however throughout the entire process, Tim kept us fully engaged around progress with the renovations and how we were tracking to the original quote.
We were extremely happy with how his design worked out and the end result. Tim is a meticulous builder with a strong eye for detail and quality. Our property is something to be proud of and we love the look and feel the front lawn and fence now provide as we enter our home.
We would highly recommend Tim for any renovations, particularly character homes.

We have engaged Tim for advice on how to resolve issues with our home. Tim has assisted with a mixture of direct action by himself, or referral to persons in his network of reliable trades.
Tim has shown that he can undertake a character sensitive repair (the front veranda of our villa) with skill and care.
After previous adverse experiences with other providers, we really appreciated the clarity of his communication (honest and open) , and that work started when he said it would start. This meant the project was stress free from our perspective. Tim’s workmanship was careful and considered. We now have a veranda that will last another 100 years.
The referrals Tim gave us in relation to other renovation projects ‘on our list’ have also worked out very well.

hardwood decks
My engagement with Tim started with a conversation about an idea I had for constructing a number of high quality hardwood decks around the perimeter of my property. The project was not straight forward so Tim undertook to review some potential design concepts and materials and come back to me with a proposal of what was possible.
In our next discussion Tim presented a range of options with some recommendations on a way forward, based on the specifics of what I was trying to do.
I was impressed that Tim clearly put himself in my shoes and what I desired as a customer. I was further comforted that he had a good grasp of what I was trying to achieve and how that dovetailed technically into a design framework.
During the build I was always kept up to date with progress, timelines and material and labour costings to our agreed budget. I was able to have open conversations with Tim and he was nimble and innovative such that we "course corrected" on some of the final build.
This is the first time I had ever engaged anyone on any sort of building project and you do hear some horror stories. Dealing with Tim and his team at Halifax Build was a pleasure and I could not be more happy with the result. Trust is so important in a relationship of any kind. Such was the quality of my experience as a customer, I immediately recommended Halifax Build to my neighbour. I think that says it all.
